SBIR/STTR Overview: How to Leverage America’s Seed Fund

6/7/2022 | 10:00 AM

Fundraising can be highly challenging in the current pandemic environment. The SBIR program is the nation's largest early-stage/high-risk funding source for startups and small businesses. The highly competitive SBIR program encourages domestic small businesses to engage in federal research and research development (R&D) that has the potential for commercialization. Tune in and learn how to fund your innovation-based startup using non-dilutive seed capital provided by the federal government.

The Arizona Commerce Authority has partnered with community organizations across the state to provide early-stage ventures, startups, entrepreneurs and small businesses with a collection of training and resources to navigate the SBIR/STTR application process.

Through the ACA Innovation Network (ACA IN), entrepreneurs have access to free, virtual training courses and a mentor network. The training modules address the SBIR/STTR solicitation of proposals, the proposal preparation and evaluation process, intellectual property and accounting considerations.

In addition, ACA IN plays host to a statewide, expert mentorship network. Founders and entrepreneurs may search for mentors with relevant industry and functional expertise to receive advice and support in growing their business.
