BIO 2008 a Success for Arizona!
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Arizona Pavilion at BIO 2008. BIO 2008 provided a vehicle for 30+ Arizona bioscience industries, economic development organizations, research institutions, and universities to be beneficiaries of maximum exposure in an international setting. The larger than ever Arizona pavilion was a collaborative effort that resulted in the most successful event to date, with plans for it to be even better next year.

A total of 20,108 industry leaders from 70 different countries and 48 states attended the BIO International Convention in San Diego.

The Arizona Pavilion at BIO 2008 included:

Arizona BioIndustry Association (AZBio)
The Arizona BioIndustry Association (AZBio) is a not-for-profit, 501 (c) 6 trade association promoting the growth of Arizona bioscience companies through advocacy, collaboration, communication, events and purchasing programs. AZBio is also the state affiliate of the national, Washington D.C.-based Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO).

Arizona Department of Commerce (ADOC)
Working closely with our economic partners around the state, the Arizona Department of Commerce serves as your single statewide point of contact to provide the information and support services you need to properly evaluate the business opportunities anywhere in Arizona.

Arizona Public Service (APS)
Arizona's largest and longest-serving electric utility, serves about 1.1 million customers in 11 of the state's 15 counties. With headquarters in Phoenix, APS is the largest subsidiary of Pinnacle West Capital Corporation (NYSE:PNW).

ARL (Arizona Research Laboratories)
ARL (Arizona Research Laboratories) is a group of researchers solving critical scientific problems and generating knowledge for the future. The organization's structure and values promote innovation through dynamic interdisciplinary collaborations. It's principle units engage in biomedical research, including: Neuroscience, insect science, biomedical engineering and provide biotechnology core services.

ASU Research Park
The Arizona State University (ASU) Research Park is a 320-acre, master-planned corporate campus environment. The Park includes regional and corporate/divisional headquarters, data and information management centers, research and development, and other facilities. Companies located at the Park enjoy strong corporate relationships with ASU, its faculty and students on a variety of levels.

BIO5 Institute at the University of Arizona
The BIO5 Institute at The University of Arizona brings together scientists from agriculture, medicine, pharmacy, basic science and engineering to prevent, treat and cure disease, and feed humanity while preserving livable environments. BIO5 creates science, industry and education partnerships to engage in leading-edge research, translate innovations to the market, and to inspire and train the next generation of scientists.

Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University
The Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University focuses on creating personalized diagnostics and treatments, outpacing infectious disease, cleaning the environment, seeking alternative energy sources and securing a safer world. Representing Arizona’s most comprehensive research portfolio under one roof, the 350,000 sq. ft. laboratory facility houses 500 researchers and staff.

Caris MPI
Caris MPI is a new paradigm in reference lab testing offering comprehensive information about a patient's disease in a personalized format for physicians and clinical research sponsors. Caris MPI provides diagnostic testing, biospecimen collection, analysis and sample storage for physicians, researchers, product development, and clinical trials.

City of Avondale
The City of Avondale is part of an emerging medical corridor along I-10 in the Greater Phoenix area–within minutes of major regional bio assets and higher education institutions focusing on research and technology. The City is ideally situated between two hospitals and Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Goodyear.

City of Chandler
Chandler, part of the premiere 101 Science and Technology Corridor, provides easy access to ASU, UA, research hospitals, and more than 40 of Chandler’s internationally recognized technology companies. City of Flagstaff

City of Scottsdale
The Translational Genomics Institute’s accelerators, Mayo Clinic, Scottsdale Healthcare and Arizona State University are the institutional drivers in Scottsdale’s biosciences. InNexus, Medicis, ImmuneRegen and host of other biosciences companies located in Scottsdale are all part of the highly collaborative, emerging bioscience community in Arizona.

City of Surprise
Surprise, Arizona is located in Northwest Phoenix and is the next expansion site of the Sun Health Research Institute, a world-renowned Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s research facility. Currently with a population of 107,000, Surprise will have a million people at build-out and is master-planning its healthcare and future industry corridors

City of Tempe
Tempe is home to the Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University, the Valley’s first LEED certified commercial wet-laboratory building and over 300 technology companies. Tempe’s technology-based economic development program assists companies with their site-location, partnering and community integration needs. Dedicated Phase I
Dedicated Phase 1 is dedicated to providing pharmaceutical and biotechnology sponsors with a wide range of services including study concept and design, Phase I-Iia bioequivalence studies and conducting Phase I-IV special population trials with rapid study enrollment, high retention and meticulous data.

Flinn Foundation
The Flinn Foundation is a privately endowed grant-making organization established in by Dr. and Mrs. Robert S. Flinn to improve the quality of life in Arizona. Maricopa Community Colleges (MCC)

Mayo Clinic

SenesTech
SenesTech is a biotechnology company founded in 2002 in Flagstaff, Arizona. Its mission is to build on the platform technology of accelerated ovarian senescence to develop models to improve women’s health and quality of life by providing endocrine relevant research models for pharmaceutical screening and simultaneously to use the technology to address feral animal overpopulation and support relevant community outreach programs.

TGen Drug Development Services (TD2)
TGen Drug Development Services, an affiliate of the Translational Genomics Research Institute, delivers comprehensive drug development services in oncology. Tucson Regional Economic Opportunities Inc. (TREO)
