GOVERNOR PRESENTS ARIZONA INNOVATION AWARD TO
EMBRY-RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY
School Considered a “Jewel” to Arizona

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz– Governor Janet Napolitano today continued to recognize Arizona’s innovators by presenting an “Innovation Award” to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU). Napolitano gave the award to the school’s Dean of Engineering, and commended ERAU for its continued work in technology and science, including educating and graduating top-notch aerospace engineers, scientists, astronauts and others. Additionally, the school was recognized for its research into new uses for aircraft, such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), also known as drones, and for its annual summer science and math camp for low-income teens, among other programs.

“Embry-Riddle is such an asset to our state, and to the entire western part of the country,” said Napolitano. “The university does so much – from training military pilots, to offering courses worldwide to working adults wanting to upgrade their technology skills, to working with young people to help shape them into our future scientists – Embry-Riddle is truly a jewel to Arizona.”

ERAU has consistently been rated as one of the best schools of its kind in the country.

The Governor’s Innovation Awards program recognizes individuals, businesses, education initiatives and government efforts that promote science, math and technology, enabling Arizona to compete in the global economy. Nominations may be submitted online at www.azcommerce.com .

Embry-Riddle has two campuses in the United States, one in Prescott and another in Florida. More information can be found at www.erau.edu .
